Where electric motors use collectors, generators use slip rings. Both require carbon brushes and a range of mechanical components to enable the installation to function. These include carbon brush holders, insulators, brush bridges, brush holder pins and rulers, etc. The sourcing of such materials can sometimes be difficult, especially when it comes to maintenance and repair of older machines.
