Products
Below you will find general information about some of the products I work with.
Carbon brushes
Within the segment graphites and carbon, there is a special place reserved for carbon brushes.
I have access to multiple production centres for carbon brushes and/or semi-finished products in Europe and the USA. This enables me to offer you customised solutions in various areas:
- Choice of materials;
- Trials and tests;
- Certifications;
- Trouble shooting;
- Brand-independent deliveries;
- Logistics solutions (from 12-hour delivery to CANBAN);
This network of suppliers often enables me to offer you several options. Each with their own price, deliverytime, logistical flexibility etc.
After that you yourself decides what route you want to take.
Customised service, in other words…

Slipring systems
Slip ring systems are used for the transmission of multiple and/or complex signals. Such a system is designed entirely for your specific application, ensuring that it fits your requirements seamlessly and achieves the highest efficiency.
For slip ring systems, I can assist you with engineering, purchasing guidance, drawing up maintenance instructions, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
In some cases, it is also possible to upgrade and repair existing systems.
Collectors, slip rings and components
Where electric motors use collectors, generators use slip rings. Both require carbon brushes and a range of mechanical components to enable the installation to function. These include carbon brush holders, insulators, brush bridges, brush holder pins and rulers, etc. The sourcing of such materials can sometimes be difficult, especially when it comes to maintenance and repair of older machines. Here too, I can offer you extensive expertise and an international network of suppliers.
Training courses and troubleshooting
In the electrical engineering industry, knowledge of direct current motors and generators is becoming increasingly scarce. This knowledge is considered outdated and is no longer taught at technical schools.
As a result, carbon brushes are sometimes misunderstood components in electric motors or generators. This can lead to the malfunctioning of a DC machine being wrongly attributed to carbon brushes.
For anyone who is confronted with such problems at any time, I can offer two solutions:
- Troubleshooting: a case specific analysis is carried out for a specific problem on a machine and an action plan is provided. The entire process is reviewed, pain points are identified, possibilities and impossibilities are separated, and a cost estimate is made for a possible follow-up process.
- Training: I provide training at three levels for people who work with carbon brushes, even if only occasionally. The training courses are accessible and require only limited prior knowledge of electrical engineering. The introductory training courses are also suitable for employees in support services such as logistics, purchasing, administration, etc.
Other applications for carbon and graphite
Carbon and graphite are very pure materials that can be refined very well, further emphasising their specific properties. This makes them suitable for use in:
- Extremely high temperatures
(e.g. fibreglass industry, sintering furnaces, metal refining);
- Heavy chemical loads
(e.g. heat exchangers, laboratories, testing equipment);
- Mechanical applications
(e.g. pumps, turbo compressors, vacuum pumps)
Since the 1990s, there has also been an emergence of carbon fibres and sintered graphite.
Even more recent are reports of developments about graphene (a material that is only one molecule thick).
Jena Carbon is closely monitoring the news coverage of these products.
